Gahanna Jerfferson Public Preschool has the WORST drop off and pick up. The system is terribly broken. They demand parents be EXTREMELY patient with them, yet, they charge you by the minute if you are even just a minute late. They are rude to the parents/drivers as well. The building sits on the corner of Hamilton and Haven's Corner Rd. It is by far one of the busiest intersections in Columbus at lunch time. You have probably 50 Gahanna Lincoln High school students trying to use the cross walk on every single corner. A lot of which will walk out right in front of you even when you have the right of way and they don't have a walk signal. Or you run into the situation where there are so many high school students, they can't all fit on the sidewalk, so then they hang out into to middle of the street, blocking traffic. Never mind all the traffic, trying to get to the food restaurants that share the same parking lot with the preschool. Lunch break lets out for the high school at the same time, so you also have additional traffic into the parking lot who are going to the restaurants. The preschool blocks all entrances into the parking lot, except for one. Then, they block the flow of traffic to make parents go through an obstacle course through the parking lot in order to get into the pick up line. Once in the line, you are asked about every minute what your pick up number is. They make you keep a huge card with your pick up number on your dash, but they don't bother to look at it. Instead, they just ask you over and over again what your number is. By the time you actually get your child in the car, all patience is lost. THE WORST PART is that after all of this, if you are one minute past pick up time for actually getting your child in the care, THEY CHARGE YOU!!!! They make it VERY difficult to pick up your child, yet give you ZERO grace. I mean ZERO. So while, you might actually be there on time, if your kid is left waiting for their broken process, then you face the consequences. I have figured out the only way to not be late through their broken process is to arrive 30 minutes early. By the way, they also start lining the kids up 30 minutes before dismissal. So if you are a parent paying for the preschool, with the understanding that your child is getting 2.5 hours of education every day, be aware, they spend the last 30 minutes of the day, waiting for the preschool to get parents through their broken pick up line system. One the plus side, they seem to be great with the students. They really need to do something about the drop off/pick up procedure and ZERO tolerance late policy.
